Sitting in an average set of eateries, with crumpled up Hungry Jacks’ bags rolling across the car park like overgrown dust bunnies, is little Tara Thai of Mill Park. Tara Thai is a clean and tidy little restaurant with super friendly family service, serving pretty standard Thai fare.
Being happy to share in a total vegetarian meal tonight, Hubby Bear decided to order a Mixed Vegetarian Entree with a ‘money bag’, a spring roll, tofu, a couple of balls of faux meat, and a syrupy-sweet dipping sauce. Wishing it to be better than it was, we’re sorry to say it was plain and simply below-average. The money bag was okay, the spring roll was okay, but the tofu and faux meat was overly-fried, lacking in any actual flavor and very hard making them semi-difficult to eat.
We also shared a Tofu Salad which was also okay. Not sure what else to say because often times I love the Thai salads with tofu, but perhaps it was the incredi-hard tofu they use? Or the lack of any real herbs? Not sure, but neither of us were overly impressed. Again, just okay.
The Vegetarian Green Curry was tasty, loaded with vegetables, and a welcome change to the lackluster entrees we had. Classic flavour for what you’d expect from a suburban Thai eatery.
The Vegetarian Red Curry was – well, the same as the green but red! Slightly spicier, same veggies packed in. Again good, and what we expected.Overall, our dining experience here was a solid 50/50. Clearly vegetarian entrees aren’t their strong point, but their veggie curries were good. Prices were reasonable, they offer BYO and their staff are really friendly. If you’re passing by and have a hankering for Thai, maybe give them a shot 🙂

Tip! If the car park’s full, just park on the grass – seems like a known thing the locals do on a busy night!
