So, we can only comment about The Merrywell – Downstairs. Clearly, “Upstairs” is a whole different ballgame, which I find sort of cool and odd at the same time. One restaurant, two totally different levels (literally as well!) of food & service. Guess it shows things have changed, iz hard times, iz time to economize on space, share business names, share website URLS….LOL! Okay, enough blabber – let’s march forward to food!
No major reporting to be had here. We just grabbed a smallish lunch because we were planning on having a superb dessert later on (see my Mr. Hive post)! Shawn grabbed the specially named burger called, wait for it….The Merrywell ($22). A classic burger with Lettuce, Cheese, Pickles, Onions, Tomato, Special Sauce (that’s what they all say, don’t they!!), Bacon and a side o’ Fries. Shawn said it was really yummy and for $22 it would want to be! LOL! Granted, we’re at Crown so premiums are expected on prices, but we think they went a bit off the rails with the beer! Shawn’s pot of Miller Beer was $11…whew!! Drink it slowly hon…drink it slowly….
|Merrywell Burger at the Back, Veggie Boom at the front,
$11 Beer to the left, extra fries & onion rings in the middle
I munched up the Veggie Boom ($18) which was stuffed with Falafel, Hummus, Feta, Basil Pesto, Lettuce & Tomato, Artichokes on a whole wheat bun. No, fries didn’t come with mine. 🙁 So we ordered the fries and onion ring combo ($8, onion rings were rockin!!) I must say, it was a very nice veggie burger, not the best I’ve had – not the worst – just sitting somewhere in the middle.
So, at $59..we ate 2 burgers, 2 sides of fries, onion rings and 1 beer. It was all good, but not sure the atmosphere and food really warranted that price. Yeah, yeah..I know we saw the price before we ordered, so no whining (I’m not, I promise!) because we’re totally happy to pay premiums for slick food – I’m just not sure I’d pay it again, unless I get a loose slot machine at Crown! LOL.
Overall – good flavours, but on the pricey side for what it is.
